A contemplative journey through summer
The Summer Garden Collection is available!
The paintings from my collection Summer Garden are now available for purchase in my shop. I'm so excited for this collection! I have been working on these paintings during the summer of 2023 and it was a wonderful journey. After some time away from abstract flowers and painting in general, I found myself longing for gardens once again. And thus, I grabbed my brushes and canvas, and began exploring. You can read more about the journey below.
The collection consists of 11 paintings all the size of 40 x 50 cm (or 50 x 40 cm depending on if it's painted vertically or horizontally). That's about 19.6" x 15.7" in inches. All paintings are made on canvas with acrylics.
About this collection
The Summer Garden is a contemplative journey through summer. In short, the collection is a light-hearted, meditative walk from the beginning of summer, until the end. In Finland, summer really only starts mid June, if we are lucky. But hints of summer and remnants of spring can be seen and felt from the beginning of May, which gives us hope that summer will soon begin. And when summer finally arrives, we enjoy it fully; the scents, the colors and the experiences becoming that more important, as we know the memories of the warmer months will get us through winter. The Summer Garden is an invitation to explore, feel and look back at your own summer memories. What are your most cherished summer experiences? What does summer mean to you?
Contemplation calms our mind and spirit. Thus, it can help us relieve worries and stress. It also leaves room for our mind to wander and then to focus again. This helps us clarify our thoughts and have new ideas.
In the Summer Garden Collection, I have taken inspiration from all of the flowers and gardens around me. With each piece, I reflect on what those flowers represent at that particular time of summer. What stage? What feelings? Which memories? It has resulted in dreamy abstract pieces, in which you can imagine yourself to be in that place for a while when you need to take a break or you want to relax.
Furthermore, each piece of art work will speak to each person in a unique way. A certain piece of work might bring back memories of childhood and of summers spent at a summer cottage or at your grand parents place. Or, the colors and flowers might represent to you a certain moment in your life, a sign of growth or a journey on your life path. All is correct, as the vision I have for my abstract work is that it gives the feeling or message that each person looking at it needs at that moment.
